HR Business Partner

Job Purpose:

Our client is seeking an HR Business Partner to provide strategic and operational HR support across multiple franchised dealerships in the Western Cape. The successful candidate will partner closely with management to drive employee engagement, ensure compliance with labour legislation, manage employee relations, and implement people strategies that align with business objectives. 

Responsibilities & Skills:

  • Partner with dealership leadership to provide strategic HR guidance and support.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including:
    • Recruitment and onboarding
    • Performance management
    • Succession planning
    • Employee development
    • Offboarding and exit processes
  • Provide expert guidance on:
    • Labour legislation
    • Disciplinary processes
    • Grievance handling
    • Incapacity management
    • Conflict resolution
  • Chair disciplinary hearings and represent the business at CCMA and Bargaining Council proceedings where required.
  • Ensure compliance with labour legislation, company policies, and HR best practices.
  • Support managers with:
    • Performance management
    • Coaching and employee development
    • Talent management
    • Workforce planning
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and foster a positive organisational culture.
  • Coordinate Employment Equity, transformation, and diversity initiatives.
  • Analyse HR metrics and provide insights to support strategic business decisions.
  • Assist with organisational restructuring, change management, and business improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and people strategies.
  • Identify training needs and support learning and development programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across all dealership operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years' experience as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Generalist within a multi-site operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation, including:
    • Labour Relations Act (LRA)
    • Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
    • Employment Equity Act (EEA)
    • Skills Development Act (SDA)
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience chairing disciplinary hearings and representing employers at CCMA proceedings.
  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between dealership locations.
